Nominated for the 30 under 30 award!
Recently I was named as a finalist in the Australian Anthill Magazine’s 30 under 30 awards as an entrepreneur of the land.
The small article read “not every person who works in agriculture considers herself an entrepreneur. But some of Australia’s most inventive business people have come from the land and associated industries.”
Despite being labeled as a high school drop out (which is not true) this was a pretty big deal for ‘country gal Sal’ as the final 30 people named were some of Australia’s most successful young people.
KLR Livestock Marketing School

Rod Knight (pictured right) from KLR Marketing explains the concepts of the KLR Livestock Marketing School to the managers from Great Southern Cattle Managers.
The knowledge from the KLR Livestock Marketing School has helped an increasing number of producers across Australia manage the market cycle and to maximise profits within their livestock enterprise.
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week twelve Tasmanian farmers from across the state also learned how to profit from their enterprise regardless of market direction.

A Christmas message
It’s that time of year again – the silly season is very much upon us!
This is just a quick note to wish you a Merry Christmas and to give you a quick update of what’s happening here at Rural Connections in the New Year.
Aside from wishing you a Merry Christmas (and all that stuff) I also wanted to acknowledge you for your encouragement and support for my business since I started about this time last year.
The office will only be manned periodically from Christmas Eve until Wednesday the 2nd of January 2008. If you have any enquiries please call 0409 196 861 and leave a message on the message bank. I will return your call at the first available moment.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say take care during the holiday period and wish you all the best for your plans and ambitions for next year.
I sincerely look forward to working with you to advance you and your business in 2008!
My FIRST cover shot published!
I just wanted to share a special moment with you!
Small Farms Magazine recently printed an article I had written about growing Truffle’s in Australia.
When I picked up a copy of the magazine from my local newsagency at Sorell, I was blown away to find one of the photos I had taken for the story on the front cover of the December 2007 edition.
I was especially thrilled as this was the first article I had written for them - it was also my first cover shot too!
Your opinion please!
Paddy (my neighbour’s working dog) and I have a favour to ask!
Can you spare a minute to give us your opinion of Rural Connections website?

Passionately Advancing Agriculture…
I knew from a very early age my future was in the rural sector and I’ve always loved helping people to achieve their ambitions - So that’s why I started Rural Connections with nothing more than loads of ambition, and “with a bit of luck and a fair breeze!”
Rural Connections mission statement says “We will strive to ensure there’s a profitable and sustainable future for the rural industry by the provision of personal development training, capacity building and marketing of rural Australia.”
Our tag line says it all… “Passionately Advancing Agriculture!”
It’s not a dating service for sheep!
Recently, I was asked the question - what is Rural Connections?
So, I proceeded to explain that Rural Connections specialises in Event & Project Management; Administration; and Marketing & Promotions focusing on the rural industry.
This gave a broad and quick introduction to some of the services Rural Connections provides to its clients. I was extremely humoured by the response “so, it’s not a dating service for sheep then?”
New style for Rural Connections
You may have noticed recently that the web presence of Rural Connections has changed from a static to a blog style website.
The new style will mean that it’s more informative and you can find all the latest news and information as it comes to hand.
If something’s happening and you’d like Rural Australia to know about it forward the information - it’s free until the end of June 2007.
