Ways to help the victims of the Victorian Bushfires
A specific hotline and website has been set up to provide information on the fires, the number is 1800 240 667, or go to www.cfa.vic.gov.au. You are also able to get CFA emergency updates on the incident summary page.
The 2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund has also been launched today in partnership with the Australian Government and Red Cross to support communities impacted by devastating fires. For any of those who wish to make a donation to the Appeal can go to www.redcross.org.au or call 1800 811 700. This line is also able to potentially provide information for those concerned about loved ones in the affected areas.
For Bushfire compensation, you are able to call 180 22 11. Organisations, such as the Victorian Farmers Federation, will work with farmers on the ground in the coming weeks to distribute fodder, coordinate agistment and reconstruct fencing and other critical farm infrastructure. For anyone who requires assistance, please contact the VFF Coordinator, Darren Keating (VFF Manager Livestock Group), on 0418 360 470 or (03) 9207 5545.
If you are in the position to offer much needed fodder and agistment, we encourage you to register with the VFF by phone, 1300 882 833, or download our Bushfire Fodder/Agistment Donation Form from their website www.vff.org.au and return via fax (03) 9207 5500 or email vff@vff.org.au.
