2009 RIRDC Rural Women’s Award
The Commonwealth Government has announced that applications are being accepted for the RIRDC Rural Women’s Award.
The aim of the program is to celebrate rural women and their contribution to primary industries. It provides a bursary of $10,000 for each state and territory winner to support them in developing their leadership capacities. State/territory winners are eligible for the national award.
The award is open to all women involved in primary industries, including broad-acre farming, intensive livestock, cropping, horticulture, fisheries, forestry, natural resource management and related service industries.
Applications for this program/round will close on Wednesday 15 October 2008

ACACA program 2009–10 funding round
The Australia-China Agricultural Cooperation Agreement (ACACA) program 2009–10 funding round is now open. The program is designed to enhance cooperation in the agriculture sector, develop trading relationships and exchange scientific information between Australia and China.
Under ACACA, the Australian Government and the Government of the People’s Republic of China will fund six delegations to visit China for up to two weeks.
Agri-Food Fellowship
The Agri-Food Industry Skills Council and the International Specialised Skills (ISS) Institute is offering a new Agri-Food International Fellowship for study overseas.
The fellowship is aimed particularly at established, highly capable and experienced industry practitioners who may have broad technical expertise or a record of achievement in their fields. It will promote the acquisition of new skills and innovative ideas overseas, and deliver these substantial benefits back to industry in Australia.
The fellowship is valued at $10 000. Entries close on 5 September 2008.
The fellowship is an initiative under the ISS Institute Overseas Skills Acquisition Plan (Overseas Fellowship), and is funded by the Agri-Food Industry Skills Council.

Regional Women in Business
Regional Women in Business Week kicks off at Campbell Town on August 13, followed by nine other regional events that will ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in women.
Scheduled events continue around the state during the week of 13-22nd August 2008.
According to the organisers, ‘You Who! Calling Women in Business’ is about mixing business with pleasure “with a generous dash of female inspiration from an impressive line-up of speakers”.

Facilitating Family Business Meetings
This course is a must for people that work in or with a Family Business!
Facilitated by Lyn Sykes and Karen Harper.
The workshop is conducted over five days – split into two sections of three and two days. It is an experiential workshop giving participants sufficient time to practice and enhance the skills learned during the workshop.
At this stage, depending on numbers, the course will be conducted during the 24-26 of March 2009 and 12-13 May respectively.
Horticultural Industry Study Tour
Tasmanian Quality Assured Inc (TQA) is seeking applications from interested persons currently working in the horticultural industry in Australia for a horticultural study tour of South Africa in November.
Horticulture Australia Limited is supporting the study tour to investigate environmental assurance and retailer requirements.
The tour commences in Cape Town on Sunday the 9th of November and finishes in Nelspruit on Friday the 14th November 2008.
The aim of the tour is to give participants a chance to see African animals in their natural environment, have fun and expand their networks; and study quality and environmental assurance for horticultural crops in South Africa.
