Do you have spare feed?
Having travelled through most regions in the state this week it has been interesting to note the feed which is available in some areas – you cant help but notice where there is no feed too!
My travels have had me talking to primary producers from the dry East Coast of the state to the dry, but not so effected, regions of the North West. In those discussions some have expressed that they have spare feed and vice versa.
Drop me a line if you have spare feed or you would like to get hold of some. I’ll do my best to match the requests up.
Don’t forget to vote today!

Do you have a rural story idea?
Recently, I have developed relationships with other rural organisations who would like to hear about what rural Tasmania has to offer.
In my discussions with organisations and publishers, I have found a real desire to hear rural stories with a Tasmanian and Victorian flavour.
Stories of particular interest are the unique characters of the rural industry, their achievements, something they have developed, or they have something new i.e. a new breed.
Drop me a line to share your ideas!
Give away to a good home!
I have recently acquired an extra copy of the book called The Spirit of Business. It is a handbook for Tasmanian Women in Regional Business.
The book is written by Jo Eady of Rural Scope, a company focused on rural and regional development.
The Spirit of Business is your guide to business success regardless of whether you are just starting out or looking to grow your business, this book is a great reference for business success.
The book profiles seven dynamic Tasmanian Women who share their thoughts, experiences, strategies, resources, and relevant contacts.
If you would like this book, the first person to e-mail or phone me on 0409 196 861, can have it – I’ll even post it to you!
Which ‘tater are you?
Some people never seem motivated to participate, but are just content to watch while others do the work – they are called ‘Spec Taters’.
Some people never do anything to help, but are gifted at finding fault with the way others do the work – they are called ‘Comment Taters’.
Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do, but don’t want to soil their own hands – they are called ‘Dick Taters’.
Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or too cold, too sour or to sweet – they are called ‘Agie Taters’.
There are those who say they will help, but somehow just never get around to actually doing the promised help – they are called ‘Hezzie Taters’.
Some people can put up a front and pretend to be someone they are not – they are called ‘Immy Taters’.
Then there are those who love others and do what they say they will. They are always prepared to stop what ever they are doing and lend a helping hand. They bring real sunshine into the lives of others -they are called ‘Sweet PoTaters’.
Waterford Limos in good hands!
The evidence is clear that despite a late introduction to the stud cattle game 10 years ago Hayley Sheehan from Waterford Limousin Stud at Latrobe on the North West Coast of Tasmania has had tremendous success in the show ring at Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, and Launceston Royal Shows.
Prior to starting out in the stud game, Hayley used to analyse the results of the auction of the local saleyards at Quoiba, to see which breed was consistently topping the market. Fortunately for Hayley, the market toppers happened to be Limousin crosses.
“I don’t know where I would be now if it were another breed!” says Hayley.

Cattle Country Article
This is a recent article published by Cattle Country on Rachael & John Treasure from Southern Tasmania.
It is a very satisfying moment when you see something you have photographed and written in print.
