Are your plans SMART?
When developing any sort of plan it should provide clear direction for management and aide management to communicate the business’s direction to employees about exactly where the business is heading.
The key to building a worthy plan is to ensure its “SMART”

New style for Rural Connections
You may have noticed recently that the web presence of Rural Connections has changed from a static to a blog style website.
The new style will mean that it’s more informative and you can find all the latest news and information as it comes to hand.
If something’s happening and you’d like Rural Australia to know about it forward the information - it’s free until the end of June 2007.
Developing Leadership Skills
Recently I met with Kirsten Singleton from Singleton Consulting & Training to discuss how our respective businesses could work together to help with the development of people in the rural industry.
As a result Kirsten and I are in the planning stages of developing workshops based around managing the purpose, value and effect of communication and leadership.
Communication is one of the most important elements in any business and sadly its one of the most neglected in the rural industry.
World congress of young farmers study tour
Young farmers from around the world will converge on Palermo, Argentina, over 26-28 July to discuss and debate the future of agriculture at the second International Federation of Agricultural Producers “World Congress of Young Farmers”.
Nominations are open for young farmers to join the National Farmers Federation (NFF) delegation, which is looking for five to ten delegates aged under 35.
Given the varied nature of the program, the NFF is seeking to assemble an Australian delegation that reflects diverse commodity interests and harnesses individuals with a broad range of skills and experience.
The NFF is organising a complementary study tour to run in conjunction with the congress, resulting in another two days in Argentina and Brazil to build on congress outcomes.
Nominations close on 15 May, 2007. Application forms are available here.
For more information contact Natalie Collard on (02) 6273 3855 or visit the NFF website.
