‘Wool’ you look at this!

Here’s a Christmas gift with a difference!

For our viewing pleasure, the Woodsdale-Levendale Museum committee present to us with the “Bare Bellies, Butts & All” calendar!

It costs $15.00 each (plus $5.00 if you want it posted). The funds raised from calendar sales go towards the construction of a Shearing Interprutation Center and Mens Shed at Woodsdale.

$1.00 from every calendar sold goes to the Royal Hobart Hospital Burns and Surgical Specialties Unit.

To place your orders e-mail Sue Atkinson, the Museum Manager.

P.S. I’ll shout the first person a calendar that tells me what is different with this picture…If you think you know, drop me a line.

Low Stress Stockhandling School at Fonthill

After the Low Stress Stockhandling School held at “Malahide” earlier this year I’m continually asked “when is the next one?”

Click here to find out more about Low Stress Stockhandling

I am organising this event through my business, Rural Connections on a not for profit basis. Why you may ask?!?!? Because I’ve participated in this training the past and believe that everyone should do it – it’s fantastic…it will change your paradigms!

(and so we all can think about something else other than drought)

Registrations close at 5pm on the 31st of November.

Please feel free to forward this to your family and friends.

Dohne Sheep Information Day

The owner/manager of Delmore Dohnes, Ross Jacobson, says that their doing ability has been very impressive through some very tough seasons.

He is keen to increase his flock numbers and given the Dohnes performance he is enthusiastic to also share his knowledge.

Ross is holding an Information Day and Ram Sale to be held on his Forcett property on the 29th of this month. RSVP’s are appreciated for catering purposes.

Call for Dairy Benchmarking Entries

The TIAR Dairy Centre is seeking participants to provide information for benchmarking their farm performance for the 2007-08 season.

This can be done through entering the Impact ANZ Dairy Business of the Year Award or as a separate exercise for farmers who do not wish to take part in the Award.

In both cases, dairy farmers receive valuable information on the financial and technical performance of their dairy business.

Free place to Hobart’s ABARE Conference

In my last post I mentioned the ABARE Regional Outlook Conference. I attended the one in Lauceston last year and got heaps from it.

It was a wonderful opportuniy to meet some new contacts and access information.

I got so much out of if that I decided that Rural Connections will shout one person to attend the conference in Hobart on the 8th of October at The Old Woolstore.

There are 12 guest speakers on topics ranging from nuffield scholars to climate change- and I must say that it looks very interesting. View the program

Drop us a line – in 50 words or less and tell us why you want to attend the conference for your chance to win.
